Steven has worked in caring roles for most of his working life. From 1981 till 2001 he trained and worked as a Salvation Army Officer serving in both rural areas and capital cities in three states. Over these twenty years he conducted many ceremonies for people of all ages and backgrounds.
In addition to his experience as a Salvation Army Officer, Steven has also served as a chaplain at the Royal Children’s Hospital in Melbourne, often dealing with people in crises. He has also worked extensively with young people and their families, running a program for three years for The Salvation Army designed to give young offenders some positive lifestyle skills. He was also employed as a Community Conference Facilitator for the Youth Justice Department. During the latter half of 2006 Steven continued to work in the pastoral care/public speaking area as a supply minister to three congregations of the Uniting Church in the Launceston region. Steven’s immediate past employment was as a workplace counselor in a role that took him into workplaces across the north of Tasmania providing a listening ear to employees and their families across a wide range of backgrounds. He was employed in this capacity for over three years. In January 2007 Steven began a new role as a civil celebrant and has conducted many ceremonies since then in both Tasmania and New South Wales.
Steven feels that his area of strength is in being with and assisting people in the most significant moments in their lives – moments such as birth, death and marriage and every other “defining moment” in between. Steven lives in Longford, Tasmania, is husband to Andrea and father to three adult children.
